about

"On the surface, Imbue & Sobright’s newest release and first collaborative effort tells a story of government secrets, historical inaccuracies and conspiracy theories, but like the subject matter being explored, much lies beneath the surface of this album. Once both natives of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, ‘Kronovisor’ is the long distance relationship of Sobright and Imbue (now a Chicago, IL resident), played out in ten tracks that cover the expanse of electronica, dance, drum and bass, and trip hop.

There is a dialog in these songs, a back and forth communication between the players that gives this album an autobiographical feel, while at the same time exploring mythologies, cultures and the controversies behind them. Musically, the influences are all over the map. Album opener “We’re Ready” is reminiscent of something you might find on Odd Nosdam’s ‘Burner’, still baring it’s own originality and taking the listener in unexpected directions, while “Safety First” harkens back to the early 90’s stylings of Polygon Window and Klute. B-side opener “Gascot” lightens the mood with a chopped and screwed piano melody akin to Baths or Daedelus.

‘Kronovisor’ is an album that truly takes the listener on a journey, never pulls the same punch twice and yet somehow flows from beginning to end. The range of emotion spanning these thirty-eight minutes make it the perfect album to welcome the warm season ahead."
