about

“We’ve heard that under the pressure of it all, comes a beauty. It can be a beauty that is simple, sweet and yet surprising. But you haven’t heard that the beauty can also come in three forms; “Cold Milk,” “Marinara,” and “Slow Milk.” These are the three tracks on Travis Bursik’s new album, “Slow Milk” that emblematize that beauty of slow sounds that sound just the way they need to.

For this upcoming season, most of America can expect chilly nights and frosty days. But to add to whatever emotions that you may be storing up for it, Travis Bursik wants you to delve even further into that human psyche/dasein/what-have-you. In a recent interview about the album “Slow Milk,” with The River Front Times, Bursik states: “You know that moment when you catch yourself in a kind of reverie, just staring off unfocused into the distance, oblivious to your surroundings? That’s the goal. I want the audience to pull inward during the performances, to have a chance to be alone with their thoughts, whatever they may be.”

Needless to say, “Slow Milk” is a definite drone jam. But it has more heart than most noise songs. There is an element of tranquility and calmness and a sense that whatever is, simply is. Travis Bursik makes claims that he has intended this album to be the sounds to a popular Philip Gröning, Zeitgeist documentary titled “Into Great Silence,” which is about monks living in the French Alps. To reclaim spirituality in the modern age of music, Bursik lets the mind melt away with these few tracks and let’s the listener become just as entranced with the simple sounds and the slow thoughts as any monk/noise-head can be.”
