On 'LPII,' Dead Tenants pick, claw, bash, and yelp their way through ten post-punk noise rock numbers like they are Shellac on overdrive or a more tightly wound Unwound. Another name that comes to mind as a point of reference is '90s band Trumans Water.
A cacophonous and uncompromising outfit from day one, this release finds Dead Tenants moving even further away from conventional song structures. Sometimes it feels as though the Brooklyn three-piece are stumbling over their own rhythms but it's actually just complicated time signatures played with the finesse of controlled clumsiness. Once you adjust your brain to Dead Tenant logic, it feels as natural as the grass growing out of the cracks in the city sidewalk."
